Corrie viewers shocked by Geoff's impressive singing voice

Coronation Street fans were taken aback when evil Geoff Metcalfe started singing in Thursday night's double bill.

As Geoff got ready to take the stand at his wife Yasmeen's trial for his attempted murder he belted out Supertramp's Breakfast In America.

His character is vile but fans admitted that his singing voice was rather impressive.

Actor Ian Bartholomew showcased his other talent (ITV/Coronation Street)

In the incredible scene, described by one fan as 'movie like', Geoff in the mirror segued with Yasmeen behind bars.

"Corrie the musical," tweeted one viewer.

"Geoff has a good voice," said another.

"He may play a baddie but Ian Bartholomew's singing is fab!!" commented another.

Actor Ian Bartholomew, who has played abusive Geoff in Corrie since 2018, has been showing off his other talent while a releasing a song for the charity Women’s Aid following his harrowing storyline about coercive control.

This Time It’s Forever, dedicated to survivors of domestic abuse, was recently released for download and streaming and was praised by domestic abuse survivors as ‘strong’ and ‘powerful.'

Written and performed by Ian, it has received over 125,000 views on YouTube and raised funds for the domestic abuse charity through its Just Giving page.

Its accompanying music video, directed by Ian’s wife theatre director Loveday Ingram, features women who have survived domestic abuse including Women’s Aid ambassadors Katie Piper and Charlie Webster, and Survivor Ambassadors Sadi Khan, Natalie Curtis and Saliha Rashid.

Ian said: "The song This Time it’s Forever, is about escaping from, and surviving domestic abuse.

"The inspiration behind it stemmed from the research I did for the role of Geoff and the Coronation Street coercive control storyline in which Women’s Aid was heavily involved, and, because of that, I wanted to support and help the charity in its life-saving work with survivors of domestic abuse.

"The point of the song is to raise awareness and funds for Women’s Aid so it can continue to combat the suffering and pain caused by the alarming frequency in our society of this appalling crime.

"It is not just a storyline on TV. It is happening right now, for real, in a house near you. We must all do what we can to bring an end to domestic abuse."
