Coronation Street viewers are fearing for one of the soap's favourite couples after a dark secret was revealed during the dramatic bank holiday week of episodes.
In Monday's double bill Rovers Return landlady Jenny Connor confessed to her husband Johnny that she had slept with their bed and breakast guest Ronnie Bailey.
Coronation Street fans think that this could finally be the end of their tempestuous marriage.
"OMG! Jenny told Johnny that she slept with Ronnie!" gasped one viewer on Twitter.
"Jenny told Johnny the truth. That's their marriage over," said another.
And another wrote: "Jenny has told Johnny - I hope they aren't going to split up."
Viewers knew that Jenny and Ronnie recently succumbed to their desire while Johnny was still in prison for an historic armed robbery.
But she came clean after her twisted nemesis Sharon Bentley tried to blackmail her to keep quiet after tasering her in the street.
Jenny, played by Sally Ann Matthews, told Johnny the truth because she fears for the safety of her former foster mum Rita Tanner while Sharon is still around.
Other viewers are hopeful that Johnny, played by Richard Hawley, will forgive his wife after everything they've already been through together.
"I think Johnny will forgive Jenny. He's put her through a lot...and no-one else would put up with him," observed one.
Jenny found love with Johnny after returning to Weatherfield in 2016 following her relationship with Kevin Webster which ended traumatically.
She snatched Kevin's son Jack and nearly threw herself off a balcony, resulting in her getting sectioned, but she made a new start with a job at the Underworld which was run by Johnny at the time.
Jenny went on to marry Johnny in 2017 but his fling with Liz McDonald caused significant problems in their marriage.
In 2019 they patched up their relationship during an overnight stay at a swanky hotel after Jenny developed a dangerous drink problem which led to her accidentally mowing down her love rival Liz in her car at Christmas.
Paranoid Jenny was tracking husband Johnny and Liz’s movements with a mobile phone tracker app after their affair.
And by way of revenge, when she mistakenly thought they'd resumed their affair, Jenny made a fake escort ad using Liz’s photo and details.
Johnny covered up for Jenny over the drink driving incident and the couple were charged with perverting the course of justice.
But the case was thrown out when Liz failed to turn up in court and got on a plane instead.
The last year viewers found out that popular Rovers Return landlord Johnny had committed a botched robbery 40 years ago with his old friend Scott Emberton which left a security guard for dead.
After revealing the truth to Jenny, she turned on Johnny for allowing a gun wielding maniac to move into their home and Scott threatened to shoot her.
Jenny has supported Johnny following his diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis which causes problems with his vision and earlier this year he was sentenced to eight months in prison for the armed robbery.
This left Jenny to run the pub with Daisy Midgeley, her stepdaughter from her previous marriage.
