Corrie star Samia Longchambon applauded as she reveals personal achievement

Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has been applauded by her co-stars and fans as she revealed a personal achievement.

The actress, who plays Maria Windass, has been hard at work away from the ITV soap and wanted to share her pride with her followers.

Sharing a smiling selfie on Instagram, Samia held up a certificate.

"I'm a little bit proud of myself and wanted to share.." she wrote alongside the post. "After 8 months of studying I’ve got my diploma in CBT! (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).

"I’ve tried lots of different ways of dealing with my #anxiety over the years so it’s been really good to learn from the other side of how this kind of therapy works!

"Hopefully now I’ll be able to help myself and others in the future.."

Samia, 38, has previously opened up about her own anxiety battle.

Last year, to mark World Mental Health Day, the Corrie star shared a story about an 'awful' panic attack she suffered on a train to London to record the comedy panel show Celebrity Juice hosted by Keith Lemon.

The actress from Eccles was in tears for the entire journey and says she'll 'never forget' the kindness of the train manager who came to her aid with tissues and water.

Last month she also spoke about how she struggled to eat while training for Dancing On Ice because she struggled with crippling anxiety.

Samia, who married her skating partner Sylvian in 2016, said she weighed just seven stone when she competed on the show in 2013 and her now husband would try to give her sugary treats in order to help.

But her latest moved has received a lot of praise.

"That’s really cool Samia, good for you!" co-star Sally Carmen commented.

Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Battersby in Corrie, added: "So inspiring darling! Bloody well done you."

"Well done Samia, so proud of you," Sally Dynevor said.

A fan added: "Well done. So you should be very proud of yourself lovely."

"Wow well done that’s amazing," another said.

A third replied: "Congratulations! That’s amazing."

And Samia was overwhelmed by the supportive messages.

Writing on her Instagram Story, the mum-of-two said: "Guys. Thanks so much for all the messages re my CBT post.

"So grateful to you all... you are very kind."

She added: "PS... I don't think I'm suddenly an expert. Just did the course to learn more about the therapy 'behind the scenes' so I could understand how it works.

"It was really interesting."
