Corrie star Sally Dynevor weeps as she hears family’s voices after Everest climb

Sally Dynevor wept with joy today after hearing her family’s voices following her gruelling Everest climb.

The Coronation Street star, who plays Sally Metcalfe on the soap, has climbed to the mountain’s base camp for Breast Cancer Prevention - a decade after being diagnosed with the disease.

Sally, 56, has helped raise £100,000 for the charity after reaching an altitude of 5,364 metres, and has shared photos and videos of her experience on her Instagram page.

Today she appeared on ITV’s Lorraine to speak about her achievement, and got a surprise message from her husband Tim and daughter Hattie, 16, who said they were proud of her.

Sally wept: “I’ve missed my family more than anything, every time they send me a picture or message I burst into tears.”

She added: “Thank you Lorraine for sharing our story... I’m crying again! It has been amazing and you’ve really helped.”

Sally and her 32-strong team worked hard to train for the epic 12-day climb, but admitted it had been tough.

“We’re shattered, we’re really tired now because we’re descending,” she said.

“The altitude sickness is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before, I wish I could show you what I can see from out of this window.”

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, with one in nine women and 1,000 men developing the disease in their lifetime.
