Corrie star reveals unlikely romance goal and who the soap's biggest party animal is

Coronation Street star Julia Goulding has revealed who her ideal soap partner would be - and who the biggest party animal is in the cast.

The actress has played Shona Platt, nee Ramsey, in the ITV soap since 2016.

But nowadays, the character is somewhat a new woman after she was shot by Derek Milligan, one of Gary's Windass' clients at Christmas 2019.

Shona suffered extensive brain damage as a result of the accident and forgot much of her later life, unaware of who David and the rest of the Platt family were.

Now, she is back at home after she and David recreated their wedding last Christmas.

But Julia would love to see her character with another Weatherfield resident.

"I’ve been saying for a while but I’m championing Shona and Abi to get together or to be best friends," the 36-year-old told OK! Magazine.

"I’d love to work more with Sally Carman and also we’ve got the best hashtag name - #Shabi. Fingers crossed."

She also spilled the beans on the Corrie team off-screen, and divulged who the biggest party animal is.

"We’re all social butterflies but Mikey North [who plays Gary] is a great one to have a good night out with," she told the publication.

While coronavirus restrictions on-set having prevented the Corrie stars getting any closer than two-meters apart, the crew have been able to meet up outside of work.

Julia enjoyed a sunny camping break last month with some of her soap co-stars.

Former on-screen couple Daniel Brocklebank and Gareth Pierce as well as Tony Maudsley and Sue Cleaver all joined Julia on the getaway.

Daniel, who plays Corrie vicar Billy Mayhew, posted a series of snaps from their campsite, with tents seen in the background.
