Corrie star reveals soap isn't his first and has even appeared alongside Hollywood stars

Dan Brocklebank has revealed that appearing in Coronation Street wasn't his first soap role.

The actor joined the ITV programme back in 2014 as vicar Billy Mayhew.

And his character hasn't been far from the centre of drama on more than one occasion - with more very much still to come.

Billy will discover what his fiance Todd Grimshaw has been up to next week when teenager Will finally exposes all his crimes to Summer Spellman.

It comes after Todd returned to Weatherfield last year and set about winning Billy back - by splitting up him and then boyfriend Paul Foreman.

But as we mentioned, this isn't Dan's first time on a soap.

"It’s actually my fifth," he told the Metro. "In Emmerdale I was a bisexual Geordie bin man and in EastEnders I played someone connected to the Mitchells – they thought I was Billy Mitchell’s long-lost son.

"I also did a soap in Ireland called Fair City and I’ve done a few guest episodes of Doctors."

Dan has been in Corrie since 2014 (ITV)

As well as that, before Corrie, Dan even appeared alongside Hollywood stars.

He starred in The Hours opposite Meryl Streep, Another Life opposite Imelda Staunton and Tom Wilkinson, and Merlin opposite Sam Neill and Helena Bonham Carter to name but a few.

He told the publication: "The majority of the people I worked with at that age, such as Judi Dench and Meryl Streep, were so nice and so unstarry that it gave me a really good grounding of how you should behave in this industry."

As for Corrie's Billy, he's set for an interesting few weeks as he discovers Todd's deception.

But viewers will see Summer collapse and it is Todd who comes to her rescue.

So could this be another chance for Todd to redeem himself in Billy's eyes?
