Corrie star reveals how he prepared for first day as he celebrates 10 years on the cobbles

Coronation Street star Colson Smith had revealed how he prepared for his first day on the soap.

And not only that, he confirmed that he was only supposed to stay for two episodes.

The Craig Tinker actor made the revelations as he marked a decade on those famous cobbles.

Colson, 22, was a 11-year-old boy when he first arrived for filming and Corrie viewers have watched him grow up on-screen.

The soap star shared with fans that he had officially reached his 10-year Corrie milestone alongside a photo of himself sat grinning from ear to ear outside the iconic Rovers Return.

"10 years of TINKS," he wrote alongside the snap.

And fans could not believe that it had been that long.

After getting lots of congratulatory messages, Colson put a message in the comments section himself.

He said: "Thank you everyone, I was only meant to stay for 2 episodes!!"

Colson also shared a clip of his first scene to his Instagram Story alongside on-screen mum Beth Sutherland, played by Lisa George.

"Can't get a babysitter," Beth declares to Steve McDonald who she was on a date with.

Craig doesn't say a single word - but he does start blowing chewing gum bubbles.

Writing alongside the short clip, Colson said: "A decade of laughs.

"I remember practicing chewing gum and blowing bubbles in my room for weeks leading up to my first day."

Colson has gone on quite a journey since joining the long-running soap and recently released a personal documentary on his weight loss.

The actor was branded 'inspirational' as he revealed a documentary of his weight-loss journey over the last 18 months.

'Bored of being the fat kid' was released in June and saw him tell his story in his own words.

But instead of focusing on a number on the scale or the amount he has lost, gives a real look into his thoughts and feelings as he found his love of running and went from "the 10-year-old being best mates with the dinner lady so he got more food to being the 22-year-old who is now putting himself first and wants to get the most out of his life."
