Corrie star pals reunite but fans had to do a double take

Coronation Street fans had to do a double take when one of its former and one of its current stars reunited.

Dan Brocklebank and Katie McGlynn shared a glimpse into their catch-up by posing for a laid-back selfie on Instagram.

Fans will know Dan for playing vicar turned archdeacon Billy Mayhew while Katie is remembered for portraying Sinead Tinker - later Osbourne.

Katie, 27, hasn't been on the soap since October 2019 after her character tragically died after discovering she had cervical cancer while pregnant.

After temporarily stopping treatment out of fear for her unborn child, she later discovered that her cancer was terminal on her wedding day in September 2019 after it had spread to her lymph nodes and her liver.

In the soap Sinead was informed she couldn't have had cervical screening because she was told she was too young at 24 and story prompted calls from viewers to lower the age for cervical screening.

And Dan is still very much caught up in the drama of Weatherfield as his character is completely unaware of fiance Todd Grimshaw's scheming to win him back.

But away from the soap, the pair showed they are still good friends and got together for a catch-up.

"I had a visitor," Dan wrote alongside a selfie. "So bloody lovely to see you @katiexmcglynn.

"So good to giggle with you," he added.

Katie was straight in the comments and said: "I've missed you sooo much, it’s like we’ve never been locked up away."

To which Dan replied: "@katiexmcglynn darling!! What a wonderful treat. Let’s see each other very soon please."

Katie also shared the image to her own Instagram story, writing: "I missed this guy too much! What a pleasure as always @DanielBrocklebank."

But fans didn't find themselves having to take a closer look thanks to Katie's stunning hair transformation.

"Knew I knew her but couldn't think who she was! It's the dark hair," one follower said.

Another added: "Looks so different."

"I didn’t recognize her .....enjoy!!" a third added.

They also loved seeing them together.

"Aww lovely photo of you both," a fan said.

Another commented: "That’s a lovely thing to see."

"How wonderful!!!" a third cheers with lots of love heart emojis.
