Corrie star Lucy Fallon unrecognisable as lesbian in supernatural horror series

Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon, 25, looks worlds apart from her Bethany Platt role in a new horror podcast series Sour Hall.

The actress departed from Corrie in March 2020 as Bethany left Weatherfield to start a new life in London, as Lucy quit after four years in the role.

In Sour Hall Lucy plays George, one half of a lesbian couple who live together in an isolated farm on the Yorkshire Moors in the podcast, which was based on a short story by Naomi Booth.

George and her girlfriend Ash, played by Doctor Who star Pearl Mackie, are haunted by a terrifying boggart.

They also deal with prejudice from the small-minded villagers over their interracial lesbian relationship.

George and Ash are trying to escape an incident from their past, but moving into George's ancestral home at the farm only divides the couple even further.

Director and writer Laura Kirwan-Ashman said: "Sour Hall is the femgaze hopepunk-horror audio series I wrote and directed about a lesbian couple tormented by a boggart, healing from trauma and the transformative power of love and empathy."

And Pearl recently told RadioTimes she had her own scary supernatural experience while filming the series in a Yorkshire cottage.

She said: “So at one point there was a lot of banging, and that was the first night I was there.

She said: “So at one point there was a lot of banging, and that was the first night I was there.

You know what it’s like, first night and you’re all a bit ‘ooooh, I don’t really know what’s going on’ with all this howling outside.

“And I heard this banging outside in the middle of the night and I was just like ‘Oh God you need to calm down, it’s obviously not a boggart!

"You need to calm down, you’re probably just a little bit excited, the adrenaline of the first day of work’s probably just getting to you.'”

She also revealed she was drawn to the project because "an interracial lesbian horror story is not something you come across every day".

Lucy has also spoken out about the show being audio only, explaining: "It was so beneficial to record on site and in 360 degree sound.

"It's going to feel very intense and I think really immerse the listener, as they will not only be listening to the drama but they will be able to feel it as it takes place around them. It makes the content quite terrifying."
