Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh has wasted no time in letting critics know she doesn't need their approval for her unusual choice of name as a grandparent.
Critics have hit out at the soap star for choosing to go by "Loli" in her new role as grandma to baby Teddy.
Kym's daughter Emilie Cunliffe, 22, gave birth to the youngster in May last year.
On Instagram , 43-year-old Kym confronted those who think she should go with a more traditional name, like "grandma" or "granny."
She wrote: "I LOVE how many people on here have an issue with my choice of name as a grandparent!?!
"Surely all that matters is that he is happy and loved, why does it matter what he calls me?
"I know lots of people with alternative names! So what! Loli is my choice and I shall live and protect him till the day I die no matter what."
Kym continued: "I don't care but it makes me laugh that people feel the need to be so vocal about it!"
One fan wrote to Kym: "I was only 43 when I became a nanny. I choose nanny as grandma or granny seemed a bit old, but I don't get Loli???"
"Searched on the Internet and found it," Kym came back, "Know I'm not the only Loli. I like as I think nanny and grandma sounded way too old. Sorry but that's me."
Other fans flocked to her social media to gush over the adorable name.
"I think it's super cute and something special between the two of you," one wrote. "These are the kind of memories that get spoken about fondly in years to come."
Another revealed some unusual choices of their own: "My mum and dad are lolly and pops. My son can't quite say lolly so it's lala at the moment but he said lolly for the first time the other day."
Kym is proud as punch of Teddy and her Instagram is packed with snaps of the little one.
One shows him tucked beneath a blanket, Kym captioning it: "Loli is on babysitting duties tonight while mummy and daddy start painting their new home!!!
"He's such a little angel! A joy to have @emilieecunliffe.x @mikeyhoz."
In June, mum Emilie revealed that she'd picked Teddy's middle names for poignant reasons.
"His full name is Teddy Archie David Hoszowskyj," she told OK!. "Archie after my late brother, and David after my brother, dad and grandfather."
Kym has Emilie and David with first husband Dave Cunliffe, as well as Polly Lomas with fellow soap star Jamie Lomas.
Kym and Jamie also had Archie - who died minutes after birth having been born 18 weeks premature in 2009.
