Coronation Street star Kimberly Hart-Simpson's mother was rushed to the hospital after having a 'serious accident'.
The soap actress, 34, revealed in a lengthy Instagram post that her mum will have to spend Christmas Day in hospital.
She took to her Stories to share a picture of her holding her mum's hand as she lay in the hospital bed.
"To the woman that carried me," she wrote as the caption. "Your turn."
In the next post, Kimberly wrote a lengthy message on how 'fragile' life is as she tried to stay positive.
"Perspective. This week online it looks like a wonderful life. Reality; it is - but it's fragile," she wrote. "Mumzy had a serious accident and between keeping up appearances, hospital visits and the dogs asking what's for dinner I haven't had time to feel festive or reply to you all thanking you for your kind words on this weeks post.
She went on to explain how a nurse on the ward comes into each room 'singing and dancing to her patients.

"And I know that she is trained to save lives but it's like she injects life too," Kimberly added. "Mum reckons she's in for a nice turkey dinner on Xmas day which is a significant upgrade from what I would have cooked her. So there's another silver lining."
Kimberly went on to say how she has always been a 'glass half full' kind of person so thinks everything will always be okay in the end.
"I believe a lot of people will be experiencing an alternative Xmas this year," the star wrote.
"My thoughts are with you all - Thank you to the NHS for looking after several family members this month and let's all be like that nurse."
Meanwhile, it was recently reported that the soap actress will be returning to Coronation Street in the near future.
Kimberly first joined the show in June last year as an escort called Nicky Wheatley. Her character developed a complicated relationship with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard).

Daniel ended up giving her an envelope of cash to help her pay off her debts so she decided to start fresh and left the show in September 2020.
It has now been said that the actress will be making an 'explosive' return to the show in March.
A source told The Sun : "Daniel’s world is going to be rocked when Nicky unexpectedly turns up on the cobbles. She was there for him in his darkest hour after Sinead’s death but he didn’t think he’d ever see her again.
"Now he’s secretly with Daisy but could Nicky put the final nail in the coffin for their seemingly doomed relationship?"
