Corrie star Julia Goulding replies to fans who thought she'd had lip fillers

Coronation Street star Julia Goulding has spoken out after fans questioned if she might have had lip fillers.

Viewers took to Twitter to comment after noticing her lips looking larger in scenes showing her character Shona Ramsey lying in a coma.

"Didn’t realise they performed lip fillers in A&E," commented one.

"Has Shona had lips done while she been in coma?" asked another.

"When did Shona have time to get her lips done, while she was in a coma?" commented another viewer.

The soap actress has since replied on Twitter, explaining that she hasn't had work done and that the swelling was caused by a cold sore.

"For those of you wondering about Shona’s (my) lips, I’ve NOT had lip fillers done or cosmetic enhancements," she said.

"I did however have a giant cold sore when filming these scenes!"

"Awww we knew it was a cold sore it was only one side ...still as gorgeous as ever @juliagoulding," said one fan.

"I thought was lip fillers sorry haha," admitted another follower.

"To be honest love I thought you had fillers as my daughter has them," said another fan.

"I am really glad you didn’t as you don’t need anything your a stunning young lady. "Sorry about the cold sore, but your lip being swollen worked well for the scenes."

Other fans thought it was makeup.

"It looked like you’re lips were made to look swollen because of the tube being your throat for so long!" commented one.

In the soap Shona has been in a coma after being shot by a drunk gunman Derek Milligan on Christmas Day.

On Friday a consultant warns her husband David that Shona has serious memory issues.

It could take up to a year before they see any improvement and she's being moved to a specialist unit in Leeds.

Julia, who has played Shona since 2016, officially went on maternity leave in November as she awaited the arrival of her first child with husband Ben Silver.

Their son Franklin Wolf Silver was born at the end of November.
