Corrie star is unrecognisable as he returns to work with new slimline look

Coronation Street's Colson Smith is unrecognisable after working hard on his fitness regime.

The Corrie favourite, who plays Craig Tinker, caused followers to do a double take after sharing the latest snap of his transformation on Instagram as he returned to work on the soap.

"So glad to be back at work! Happy Camper," he wrote.

The 21-year-old shared a photo of himself looking svelte wearing shorts and trainers.

His co-star Brooke Vincent, who plays Sophie Webster, exclaimed: "Erm! Sorry! Who is this!!!!!!!"

"I agree this isn't Craig," said another follower.

"How they gonna work this new lean lookin guy in the script?" asked another.

Colson recently joked that he may have to wear a fat suit when he returned to work on the cobbles after 'losing about 10 stone.'

The Manchester actor has also swapped his red hair for blonde.

He said on his weekly podcast the Sofa Cinema Club with co-stars Jack P Shepherd and Ben Price: "We are in direct continuity, but I've almost lost about 10 stone since we left work so I'm not sure that (my hair) is going to be the biggest of their issues.

"I might be wearing a wig and a fat suit when we go back."

He recently shared a time lapse video of himself working out outdoors with an assortment of weights.

The soap star looked in great shape as he trained with a dumbbell, kettle bells and a medicine ball as he made the most of the sunshine.

Colson has played Craig the son of Beth Sutherland since 2011.

On screen his trainee police constable character has taken up running after finding that he was out of breath while chasing shoplifters.

Craig told his friends that he was going to make an effort to get healthier after being bullied at work.

Cameras starting rolling again on the set at Trafford Wharf earlier this month for the first time after lockdown was imposed with new safety measures amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Viewers will see the new scenes next month after the soap was rationed to three half hour episodes a week instead of six shown as double bills.
