Corrie star Charlie Lawson lights Co Tyrone bonfire as he appears on GB News Twelfth coverage

Coronation Street star Charlie Lawson was the star of the show in Fivemiletown on Monday night as he lit the bonfire on the Eleventh Night.

The corrie star, who plays Jim McDonald in the long running soap series, joined former First Minister and DUP leader Arlene Foster at the celebrations in the Co Tyrone town on the Eleventh night.

The event at the Roughan Hall was hosted by the local Fivemiletown District Orange Order, who tweeted it was a "fantastic night" of celebrations.

“Fantastic Eleventh Night celebrations at Roughan last night. Charlie Lawson had the honour of lighting the bonfire,” the local lodge said.

Enniskillen born actor Lawson was part of GB News’ coverage of the Twelfth parades alongside Foster.

“I was with Arlene at the bonfire last night and I was allowed to light it down near Augher,” Charlie told the presenter.

“I was very well behaved, it was a very temperate evening. There was not a beer to be had, and I won the penalty competition!”

Fermanagh and South Tyrone DUP MLA Deborah Erskine as also in attendance at the Eleventh night event, along with former Northern Ireland goalkeeper Roy Carroll.

“This is what celebrating culture & heritage looks like. Well done to @FMTDistOrange for the fab, family 11th night celebrations, with music & competition between lodges,” Erskine tweeted.

“I’ll not give up the day job to join NI ladies just yet. Few familiar faces with me for the penalty shoot out.”
