Corrie spoilers with tragic death of Weatherfield favourite and a tipsy Sarah in danger as she's drinking with the enemy

Sarah Barlow is dicing with danger next week on Coronation Street as she ends up drinking with the enemy. After she rows with husband, Adam, she announces that she’s off to the hotel he booked for their date night on her own.

As drug dealer Damon Hay orders a drink in the hotel bar, Sarah parks herself next to him, unaware who he is. Damon chats her up as Sarah admits she’s had a row with her husband and a tipsy Sarah invites Damon up to her room for a drink.

Elsewhere, at the Underworld factory Peter Barlow is stunned to find Stephen Reid in charge and accuses the staff of stabbing his wife Carla in the back. Stephen is about to sign the American contract when businessman Rufus Donahue appears and tells him to tear it up as he wants sole rights to Nippersnapper and if he doesn’t play ball, he’ll tell everyone how he’s been drugging Carla. Picking up his now-famous trusty hole punch, a furious Stephen approaches Rufus.

And there are tragic scenes as we say a sad farewell to a Weatherfield favourite. Evelyn calls in the café with her beloved dog Cerberus where Roy apologises for missing her birthday party and tells her about Carla’s problems. When Cerberus later shows no interest in his tea, Evelyn is concerned.

With Cerberus still sick, a concerned Tyrone insists they take him to the vets. When the vet suggests food poisoning, a guilty Roy reveals he dropped an Eccles cake in the café and fears Cerberus may have eaten it.

Both angry and worried, Evelyn tells Roy that if anything happens to Cerberus, she’ll never forgive him. The vet breaks the news to Evelyn that Cerberus is suffering from kidney failure.

When Paul Foreman reveals that there’s been no improvement in his hand, Dr Gaddas refers him to a neurologist. The neurologist tells Paul that he’s sending him for further scans but the problems he’s experiencing are unlikely to have been caused by his recent accident. Paul is shocked as solicitor Dee-Dee Bailey confirms that if that’s the case he won’t be entitled to compensation.
