Corrie spoilers: Stu cleared as real murderers revealed - and they're close to home

Coronation Street’s long-running Stu Carpenter storyline involving his murky past is set to see a new breakthrough next week on the ITV soap.

The murder of Charlie Walters years ago has been haunting Stu, as he maintains his innocence amid strong public feeling against him on the cobbles.

The former homeless man went to jail for killing his former lover for years – until Yasmeen Nazir and her family decided to stand by his side and help him clear his name.

The Speed Daal chef (Bill Fellows) finally gets a break next week when the true culprits are charged on Coronation Street.

ITV spoilers have revealed that next week on the soap, Stu learns that both Lucy and Bridget have been charged – confirming many fans’ long-held suspicions that one or both could be behind the crime.

However, the situation forces Stu to hide his anxiety for Eliza's sake as it becomes clear he is the only family she has left.

Meanwhile, Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) is plagued with feelings of guilt after she successfully proves Stu was innocent – but at a cost.

This prompts lawyer Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) to comfort her and assure her that she did the right thing.

Bridget later calls her father from prison and tells him that both she and Lucy have pleaded guilty to murder, before she has another bombshell for Stu.

She tells him that she would like him to take care of Eliza for her, leaving the chef and Yasmeen reeling in shock.

The pair take steps to settle Eliza on Coronation Street before later scenes sees a social worker named Felicity calls at No.6 to speak to Stu and Yasmeen.

She shares the dire news that Stu's murder conviction still needs to be officially quashed for him to take care of Eliza.

This means the young girl will have to be taken into care before she can live with her grandfather.

Stu and Yasmeen are devastated – but could they find a solution to keep Eliza close to home until his name is completely cleared?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
