The Barlow family is in turmoil on Coronation Street as Peter Barlow is determined to end his life on his terms and pens a 'suicide' note.
The alcoholic recently fell off the wagon on Corrie after having his taxi stolen and discovering that his fiancee Carla Connor had slept with his nephew Adam.
Next week his dad Ken sets about circulating a photo of Peter to all local pubs and shops explaining that his son is ill and asking that they don’t serve him.
However when Peter arrives home, clearly drunk, Ken despairs.
The Barlows decide that they should each take turns to keep an eye on Peter and if he goes out, they should go with him.
But after coming home blind drunk again, Peter sits down and pens a letter to his son Simon.
He then tells Carla he’d like to draw a line under their feud and forgives her for her one-night stand with Adam.
Peter insists his letter for Simon is not a suicide note, but a farewell letter as he’s come to accept that he’s dying.
Carla drags Simon to number 1 Coronation Street where to Peter’s horror she reads out the letter.
And as a shaken Simon heads out, Carla begs Peter to save himself before it’s too late.
As a broken Simon washes his hands of Peter, Ken’s horrified to finds Peter drunk in a hotel bar and when Ken tries to take his drink off him, Peter lashes out.
Ashamed of his actions, Peter breaks down and admits he wants to give up the booze but doesn’t know how.
Elsewhere as Dev Alahan confides in Nina Lucas that his daughter Asha is still brooding over Corey and her school work is suffering.
As Asha helps Nina out in the cafe the spark between them is evident.
And Gail Rodwell and George Shuttleworth are thrilled to realise they share a set of great-great grandparents, sparking jealousy from his admirers Mary Taylor and Eileen Grimshaw.
