Coronation Street actress Jane Hazlegrove has suggested that her character Bernie Winter could end up falling in love with Dev Alahan or Mary Taylor.
This week on the ITV soap Bernie and Dev's role play turns into the real deal when the pair end up spending the evening together.
It all comes about when Aadi pokes fun at Dev’s nonexistent love life and Bernie comes to his rescue and makes out they’re going for brunch together.
Dev plays along but as the pair enjoy their pretend date, Dev suggests they go back to No.7 and continue their charade.
By the end of the week, Aadi and Asha are horrified to realise that Dev and Bernie are having some sort of relationship.

Mary tears a strip off Bernie for taking advantage of Dev, but when she overhears Dev laughing with Steve, making out he only copped off with Bernie because he was drunk, Mary’s left troubled.
Discussing Bernie's reaction to Mary not being happy with her and Dev spending the night together, Jane told press including The Mirror: "I don't think she quite understands why Mary's got such a problem with it.

"She's always in the moment, so she's a bit confused as to why Mary is being so protective over Dev and she certainly doesn't want to step on her toes, so she's quite defiant with Mary at the beginning. She's not happy with Mary's reaction."
Jane went on to reveal that she would love for her character Bernie to find her happy ending.
Asked if she thinks Bernie could end up falling in love with Dev, Jane replied: "Yeah. I think I’d just like Bernie to find love... be that with Dev, with Mary, whoever! Yeah, she's up for some love I think and she deserves it."

Asked if she has enjoyed playing a different side to Bernie, Jane said: "Yeah absolutely. I think it's always interesting when they pair you up with other other actors as well and that's what's so brilliant about Corrie.
"One minute you're doing one thing and the next minute you're flitting over to something else, so I have enjoyed her having a nice time."
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
