Corrie shares first look as Geoff Metcalfe's ex Elaine tells abuse ordeal to Yasmeen

Coronation Street airs fresh hope for Yasmeen Nazir next week, as the character could be saved by a newcomer.

The mystery prison visitor will pose as someone from Women's Aid, to discuss Yamseen's abuse with her.

It soon becomes apparent there's more to her visit, and she too has a link to Yasmeen's husband and abuser Geoff Metcalfe.

Elaine will claim to be Geoff's ex - and a secret abuse victim of his, threatening to expose him for good.

Yasmeen was arrested after a brutal attack saw her stab Geoff in the neck with a broken glass bottle, while it was in self-defence.

His abuse led to the deadly attack, and Yasmeen has been in prison ever since - while at a recent court hearing she pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.

Yasmeen is awaiting trial, and it appears she may consider getting back with her husband after all, following his offer to retract his statement if they reconciled.

So could Elaine be making her comeback to save Yasmeen, and put an end to Geoff's reign of terror?

A new clip ahead of her debut aired on Lorraine on Friday, revealing the moment Elaine exposes her true identity.

Yasmeen is confused by the visit, as Elaine confesses she has been hiding something from her.

The clip sees Elaine tell Yasmeen: "Yasmeen I need to be honest here, I'm nothing to do with any charity. I just said that to give me more of a chance of you saying yes to seeing me."

Yasmeen responds: "I don't understand. So who are you then?"

The clip then ends, before showing if she does tell the truth about who she is.

She is thought to though, given later in the week Yasmeen confides in Imran Habeeb about a new witness, who was apparently abused by Geoff.

Elaine is then seen back on the Cobbles watching Geoff and son Tim make their way to court - but will she attend?

Viewers are hoping this could be the moment Geoff is caught out, after months of abuse and lies.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm on ITV.
