Corrie's Toyah Battersby teases future with new love Spider after murder confession

Coronation Street’s Toyah Battersby declared her love for Spider Nugent as the pair got together in Monday night’s episode.

But will he stick by her when he finds out she really did kill husband Imran Habeeb in a car crash?

And what will she make of the fact that activist Spider, who she fell in love with as a teenager, is actually an undercover police officer?

Actress Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah, has teased things won’t end well for the couple when he hears her murder confession in episodes to air next week.

Explaining what happened with Imran – who cheated on Toyah and fathered a child with Abi Franklin - Georgia said: “She didn’t get in the car meaning to kill him or hurt him.”

“She had a few seconds when the red mist descended and she just lost her mind,” the soap star continued.

“She went ‘I don’t care what happens’, and then... boom! Before you know it, they’ve hit the building!”

Her character Toyah is set to drop the bombshell that the crash was deliberate to boyfriend Spider and sister Leanne next week.

Asked how Spider reacts to her shock confession, Georgia revealed: ““He’s basically like ‘I can’t hear this’. He bails and then totally falls off the radar.

“When Toyah goes to court she doesn’t know if Spider has told the police or where he is.”

Georgia has already teased a prison storyline is on the cards for Toyah – suggesting she could get sent down.

Speaking to The Mirror and other press she shared: "I've said all along I really want a prison storyline.

“I just think that it looks like so much fun and I think it could go one of two ways because Toyah's got this counselling background, she could become someone that the fellow inmates come to and she's very supportive.

"Or she could just be bullied, like massively! I could just see her really getting bullied - she'd need to find some of that Battersby spirit to get through time in prison. If that were to happen, I think the writers could feasibly go either way with it."

And it seems Spider could be the one who helps put her away – after his big secret was finally revealed on Monday night.

The notoriously ethical character, who is known for being a protester, was unveiled to be working as an undercover police officer.

The ITV soap revealed he was working on a case as he met up with DS Swain, exposing his role with the police, as he urged her to keep her voice down.

As Spider was asked for information on Toyah Battersby, amid her trial, he was left in a quandary over his loyalties, after the two reignited their romance.

He said he wouldn’t do that to Toyah, but once he hears her confession will he change his mind?

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITV Hub
