Corrie's Tina O'Brien wants social distancing to end to get back to romantic scenes

Coronation Street star Tina O'Brien said she can't wait for social distancing to end so that she can get close to her co-star once again.

The Sarah Barlow actress is married to Adam Barlow in the ITV soap but still holds a candle for her ex Gary Windass.

Speaking to the Daily Star about post-lockdown changes to the show, Tina admits she's found it difficult acting some of her romantic scenes.

"Part of your job is to be tactile and convey a certain amount of emotion and without the ability to act as a couple, it can be tricky as you are trying to find other ways to convey those feelings while being at two metres.

"Me and Mikey North were back the first week after lockdown and we had to film some scenes where you think Sarah and Gary are going to kiss, but it's very hard to get that feeling of will they/ won't they when we're so far apart.

"I think every actor will say they'll be happier when we can get back to doing things how we did just in general, not just kissing scenes.

"There are good reasons for it , though, in that I can eat a really rubbish lunch now with loads of garlic and it doesn't matter if my cast mates are two metres away - I'm not breathing on anyone!" she joked.

The mother-of-two also said admitted that she struggled with home-schooling in lockdown.

"In the beginning I felt like a constant failure," she explained.

Tina is mum to daughter Scarlett, 12, with ex Ryan Thomas and also shares son Beau, six, with her personal trainer husband Adam Crofts.

The actress began playing Sarah Platt on Coronation Street in 1997 until 2007 before returning in 2015.
