Corrie’s Sue Cleaver debuts new look and addresses filming concerns

Coronation Street’s Sue Cleaver today reassured fans that work is being done to make sure that we don’t run out of episodes.

She appeared on Good Morning Britain with Lorraine Kelly sporting newly dyed pink hair - a far cry from her usual look as Eileen Grimshaw.

Lorraine asked her about the danger that the ITV soap may run out of episodes if lockdown goes on too long.

The soap halved its weekly output after announcing that filming was halted, but as the programme is filmed around eight weeks in advance, there will come a time when the bank of episodes will start to run dry.

But Sue explained that the crew is working hard to make sure that is not going to happen.

She said: “All you need to know is there are people working behind the scenes working everything out.

“I am not party to that, I just wait for the phone call to say, come in.

“But there is a lot of work going on at the minute.”

Lorraine then went on to ask her about her new look, asking her if she will keep it.

Sue said: “I’d love to but I don’t think they will let me.

“I thought, this is the only time in my life where I can just do what I want with my hair and I thought, I am going to do it.

“Don’t worry, it will wash out.”

Lorraine said she would love to see Eileen have pink hair as a new start for the character.

But Sue was not quite as sure.

She joked: “I think it might be a little mutton dressed as lamb.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
