Corrie's Simon Gregson fumes as his car is 'written off' despite 'minor damage'

Coronation Street's Simon Gregson was left seething in an online rant as he revealed his car has been 'written off'.

The actor, 47, revealed the terrible news on his Twitter, where he ranted about his car insurance after his motor suffered 'minor damage' on Tuesday.

Simon - who plays Steve McDonald on the ITV soap - shared how he was feeling after telling fans his car was hit by an 'unfortunate nice lady'.

He explained that his insurance company deemed the vehicle as no longer fit to drive - despite it only suffering a small amount of damage.

The soap star tweeted: "So a nice unfortunate lady hit my car today when it was parked up.

"Very minor damage just a dent and my insurance company wrote it off.

"Wtf is that about? Time to change providers me thinks. Car now being repaired by her insurance so no loss."

The incident comes after Simon was involved in a boozy fight last month - which saw him being quizzed in the back of a police van.

It happened after there was a bust-up in a Toby Carvery pub opposite the Grand National racecourse.

The police investigation into his drunken Aintree fight has now been dropped - and friends say he wants to move on from the brawl.

Things reportedly turned ugly after the racing - and police confirmed they were investigating a reported “altercation” between two men at The Rocking Horse pub yards from the venue.

But it was later claimed cops won't be taking things further - and Simon has told Coronation Street execs he will clean up his act.

He has been making headlines recently (ITV)

A friend told The Sun: “Simon has been told there will be no further action taken by the cops following the ruckus in the Toby Carvery.

“It is naturally a welcome relief for Simon and those around him. Simon knows his antics haven’t looked, or been, great and he made it clear to Corrie it won’t happen again.”

Simon has played loveable taxi boss Steve for three decades and has won a string of awards.
