Corrie's Ryan actor reveals sad fallout to acid attack as he struggles with injuries

Coronation Street star Ryan Prescott has revealed all on the fallout to his character Ryan Connor's acid attack horror.

A new clip for the next episode has revealed Ryan will struggle in the fallout, as he must undergo a skin graft on his arm - while he's warned about the injuries to his face.

In the clip, doctors share their hopes to avoid a skin graft on his facial burns, adding they won't know whether his facial injuries will be treatable until it has healed.

Ryan breaks down in tears as he's told that if he wants to, he can look at his injuries which are currently bandaged up.

Facing uncertainty in the wake of the attack, Ryan struggles to cope and will end up pushing away those closest to him.

Speaking on This Morning on Tuesday, actor Ryan spilled all on his character's recovery and how his life will be changed forever.

He told hosts Holly Willoughby and Alison Hammond : "There's a natural tendency to push the people away you love the most when you are in such a vulnerable state, and I think he has a little bit of that."

He added that Ryan would try hold on to things in his life that could allow him to deny his current reality.

Ryan was left with severe burns after evil Justin Rutherford threw acid at him, while his intended target was Daisy Midgeley.

Justin has been stalking Daisy for months, and things reached a climax on Monday night on her wedding day.

As Ryan and Daisy entered the pub, they tried to kick the last person out - before realising it was Justin hiding in the shadows. "We've got a wedding to get to," Ryan said before Justin could be heard saying: "Lucky you."

The horror was clear on Daisy's face as she turned around to look at him. "You think everybody wants you because you're so perfect, aren't you? Nobody's going to want you after this," he said as he threw the acid.

Ryan stepped in the way and immediately screamed as the acid hit his face, holding his burning skin as Justin made a run for it and pushed Daisy onto the floor as he fled. Realising what had happened, Daisy started screaming as she heard cries from Ryan.

The team at Coronation Street have worked alongside The Katie Piper Foundation and Acid Survivors Trust International (ASTI) for the storyline, with the soap's aim to highlight the devastating impact and long lasting effects of an attack like this.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
