Corrie's Paul actor shares difficulties of MND storyline as he addresses exit

Coronation Street 's Paul Foreman actor Peter Ash has revealed all on his devastating storyline, and the difficulties he's faced with it.

Peter also revealed the overwhelming messages of support he has had from viewers, with fans of the show reacting to his future exit on the ITV soap.

Paul recently learned he had motor neurone disease in devastating scenes which will lead to a future exit storyline.

Currently only Paul, his friend Dee-Dee Bailey and his partner Billy Mayhew know about his diagnosis, with him keeping the illness from his family and friends.

Paul actor Peter discussed how his character was trying to hide his symptoms from loved ones, while sharing the difficulties he faced as an actor in portraying the symptoms correctly.

Wanting to get the storyline right, Peter shared an insight into filming the scenes and making sure he displays the symptoms in the right way.

Asked about Paul's new struggles, with him losing the ability to use his hand and his foot, he said: "I t's just another layer of things you've got to think about.

"I have to be super aware that I'm not subconsciously just using [the hand and foot]. So as you'll probably notice, I have the right hand in the right pocket a lot.

"So that I'm not tempted to use it on set, and also because the character is trying to hide it so it's a place to hide it I suppose.

"Now that he has the leg, the foot drop symptom, that's also a bit harder and very hard to hide. So that's why he's not wanting to go to the wedding and things.

"Yeah, it just it just another layer of things you have got to think about. It's the technical side as opposed to the emotional side."

Peter also addressed the comments from viewers about his storyline and his future exit, while it's not been confirmed when he will bow out of the role.

He said: "P eople have been lovely. They say they don't want him to go and things like that. Again, I really appreciate that. The fans are amazing. We have amazing fans and it's great."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
