Corrie's Kate Ford issues emotional plea to fans not to take her photo without asking

Coronation Street star Kate Ford has begged fans to ask for her thumbs up when snapping a photo of her.

The Tracy Barlow actress admitted she found it "difficult to cope" when Corrie fans snapped her in public without asking her first.

Taking to Twitter, she wrote: "Please please can people ask to take a photo or video of me please, I find it so difficult to cope with when people do this without asking.

"I always oblige when asked x."

Fans and showbiz pals rushed to offer kind words and messages of support.

Among them was RuPaul's Drag Race star Baga Chipz who told her: "We met on the tube once! I had to come over and ask! As im a huge fan. I get people whispering and taking pics now...If anyone asks I always say yes."

Kate's character Tracy is fan favourite and currently embroiled in a heartbreaking illness plot.

Her step-son Oliver was diagnosed with a life-changing Mitochondrial disease as the show aims to raise awareness.

Kate's starred on the Cobbles for nearly 20 years, having joined the cast back in 2002.

And while production was forced to a grinding halt back in March amid coronavirus, Corrie is now back to filming.

ITV has ensured proper social distancing measures are in place to keep safe the cast and crew.

Another measure has been the delay of the return of elderly characters, including Tracy's adoptive dad, Ken Barlow.

Actor Bill Roache told the Mirror that he reckons they'll be able to get back on set around autumn time.

"I'm looking forward to it," he enthused, "I don't want to slow down, I want to speed up.

"They have started filming again, but for us oldies, but probably by the autumn they have said we could be back.

"I had no idea until they contacted me and they asked me if I wanted to go back and I said yes.

"Then I had to get a doctor's report that he considers the protocols they have got are good, which he has done."
