Corrie's Jack P Shepherd leaves co-stars 'fuming' as he reveals behind-the-scenes secret

Jack P Shepherd has left his Coronation Street co-stars "fuming" after revealing one of the soap's behind-the-scenes secrets.

The actor, who is best known for playing David Platt on the ITV show, took to Instagram to share a picture of his on-screen home. In the snap, he can be seen sitting at top of the stairs of no. 8.

His followers were shocked to find out the stairs actually lead to nowhere. All that could be seen above Jack, 34, was lighting equipment and a walk way which appeared to go above the Platt residence.

He captioned the post: " Misspent youth was had on thus staircase."

Paddy Bever, who plays Jack's on-screen son Max Turner, was among the first to comment on the post. He said: "Fuming. just found out there’s no upstairs."

Jamie Kenna, who recently exited the soap as Fiz Stape's jilted husband Phill Whittaker, commented: "WTF the house not real?!?!"

Rachel Leskovac, known for playing Natasha Blakeman, said: "Ahhh," and added a sad face emoji.

Fans were also disappointed with the behind-the-scenes look, with one person saying: "So there’s no upstairs??"

Another wrote: "This is up there with the disappointment I felt when I found out the washing machines in the laundrette in EastEnders aren’t real, and someone actually stands behind the wall manually turning them round."

A third commented: "Why did I think they were actual, real houses.... ruined it now," with someone else writing: Omg WHERES THE UPSTAIRS."

Jack's character David has recently been involved in an emotional storyline, after his gran Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) collapsed and was rushed to hospital after taking too many sleeping pills.

During a follow-up appointment with Dr. Gaddas, Audrey insisted she had just miscalculated her pills and doesn't need therapy. However, the doctor suggested she take a course of antidepressants.

In a later episode, Audrey went for a surprise afternoon tea with her closest friends — Ken Barlow (William Roach), Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox), Roy Cropper (David Neilson) and Claudia Colby (Rula Lenska).

She admitted she had tried to kill herself, leaving her friends shocked and devastated by what had happened.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
