Corrie's Harry Visinoni's real-life girlfriend appeared in Seb Franklin death scenes

Coronation Street fans were left 'sobbing' on Friday night after Seb Franklin died in hospital.

The character suffered horrific injuries after he and girlfriend Nina Lucas were brutally attacked by a gang of teenagers - including those living on the Street - in a hate crime attack.

The harrowing storyline has been inspired by the death of Sophie Lancaster in 2007.

Sophie lost her life after she and boyfriend Robert Maltby were attacked in in Stubbylee Park, Bacup because they were members of the goth subculture.

Upcoming scenes on the ITV soap will see Seb's mum Abi desperate for answers as Kelly Neelan is charged with Seb’s murder, and gangmates Eli and Jay have pleaded guilty to GBH over the attack on Nina.

But last week's emotional scenes had to be filmed - like all TV shows at the moment - following Covid guidelines

This means that the actors couldn't get close enough to portray the human contact Abi shared with her on-screen son as he was taken off life support.

And Sally Carman, who plays Corrie's Abi, has revealed to Metro.co.uk that it was actually his girlfriend on set for the emotional scene

"There was one scene where Seb had died and I had to say goodbye to him," the actress explained.

"I was stroking his face and we had to have Harry’s girlfriend as my hand double. ‘Weirdly, it worked. When you are in that zone, it works so it was fine."

Harry, who first joined the show in 2016, is in a happy relationship with girlfriend Ellie Isaacs.

The couple keep their relationship out of the spotlight but Harry recently shared the couple were celebrating their one-year anniversary.

Ellie marked Harry's final scenes on the Manchester-based soap by filling their living room with colourful balloons and providing her other half with a celebratory glass of fizz.

She wrote alongside the image on social media: "So proud of you."
