Corrie's Georgia Taylor on carrying on a soap tradition and what she really thinks of Imran and Toyah

Coronation Street Georgia Taylor has spoke about how her character is helping keeping a soap tradition alive.

The actress, who plays Toyah Battersby in the ITV soap, also revealed what she really thinks of her character's relationship with Imran Habeeb.

Viewers are set to see the couple's relationship tested next week when Imran's ex Sabeen returns.

The pair were last seen together heading off in a taxi after Imran lost foster daughter Kelly Neelan's murder case.

When he returned home, Imran lied to Toyah about his whereabouts and rushed to be with Toyah and Kelly, who had attempted to take her own life in prison.

But next week, Sabeen is back with a lucrative offer for Imran.

Gary Windass then mentions to Toyah Battersby that he saw Imran heading into a bar on the night of Kelly’s verdict.

As Sabeen reminds Imran how she helped him on the night of the verdict, Toyah clocks their intimacy.

Back home Toyah’s unable to hold her tongue any longer and asks Imran outright if he’s cheating with Sabeen.

Will Imran come clean about his whereabouts that night?

Corrie actress Georgia has revealed what she really thinks about the couple.

"I do think they’re a strong couple but obviously until they’re really tested who knows whether they’re strong enough to withstand the revelations that are about to come out," she said.

"Charlie [de Melo, who plays Imran] and I love working together, we feel very safe and when we’re busy we’ll get together to run our lines because you don’t get that rehearsal time on set.

"We have a similar work ethic, he’s really caring and he’s really good fun to be around so from a purely selfish point of view I really don’t want them to split up.

"We love working together but in a soap you can’t take anything for granted."

And she hopes they can stay in their " happy little fostering bubble of a family".

"We had the really sweet storyline at Christmas where they got a baby but it was so short-lived, then came Kelly," Georgia said.

"I think it offers a really great opportunity for a variety of storylines and when you look at a variety of ages of different children that’s what is really interesting to explore, the difference between them fostering a toddler or fostering a troubled teenager.

"Both come with their own huge challenges so it opens up a real sense of variety. I hope it continues because I think it’s really great to explore."

She added: "There’s a relly good history of fostering in Coronation Street that goes right back to Rita, then explored again with Anna and Faye and I think it’s a really good thing to shine a spotlight on. It’s nice to continue that tradition on."
