Corrie's Emma Brooker star 'ugly cried' during last day on the cobbles as she's supported by co-stars

Coronation Street star Alexendra Mardell has officially ended her time on the cobbles.

The actress announced earlier this month that she'd be leaving the ITV soap after four years of playing Emma Brooker.

Alexandra revealed she's heading for pastures new after making her way to Weatherfield in 2018 as an apprentice hairdresser at Audrey Roberts' salon.

The bubble, pink-wearing character has endured her fair share of heartache and surprises on the street, specifically when discovering her dad was Steve McDonald.

As for her exit, Alexandra, 28, has been snapped filming alongside Jordan Ford Silver who plays newcomer Jon, the grandson of Ted the elderly man who died after he was knocked over while Emma was in the car supervising learner driver Faye Windass at the wheel.

While viewers will have to wait until April to see how Emma makes her exit, Alexandra has already said her goodbyes.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday (February 22), the soap star shared a picture of the Coronation Street sign outside the Salford-based set.

She made a heart with her hands in the snap before admitting that she 'ugly cried' on her last day.

She penned to her thousands of followers: "And that’s a wrap on the best street there is! And of course I ugly cried as soon as the scene completed.

"So overwhelmed by all the love. The Corrie family are just insane. To every person in that building, every viewer, family member and friend, I love you all and can’t thank you enough!

"I’ve said it countless times before but I’ll say it again, it’s been the best time of my life."

She ended the post: "But for now it’s goodbye to the cobbles from me and Emma Brooker."

Her Corrie co-stars were quick to flood her with messages.

"We will miss you loads Ali! You little [star]," Samia Longchambon, the soap's Maria Windass, said.

Summer Spellman actress Harriet Bibby commented: "Missing you already! Best of luck you ray of sunshine!!"

"Gonna miss you Ali but good luck I’m sure you’re gonna smash it," Corrie favourite Andy Whyment, aka Kirk Sutherland, wrote.

Sam Retford, who broke poor Emma's heart as Curtis Delemere, shared; " So glad to have shared a little of your journey, excited to see what's next."

And Alexandra made sure to treat her soap pals before she left.

Many of the Corrie cast took to their own Instagram pages to share a look at some biscuits the departing star had had made.

The pink collection of treats featured pictures of Alexandra from various scenes with her castmates.

Other biscuits read 'Goodbye from Emma' and 'Love You All'.

Alexandra was also seen posing with a box of doughnuts with Ellie Leach, who plays Faye Windass, saying: "Pink donuts for our pink queen."

Colson Smith, best known for playing Craig Tinker in the ITV soap, also shared a close-up of one of the treats which featured himself and Alexandra.
