Corrie's Dev forced into decision that's every parent's nightmare

It would be any parent's worst nightmare to choose between one of their kids but that's exactly what Dev Alahan is faced with on Coronation Street.

The shop owner decides to take his children Aadi and Asha on a family holiday but it soon turns into a disaster, reports Manchester Evening News.

A storm hits and the family find themselves lost on a country road as the thunder crashes overhead.

What they also wouldn't have prepared for was that heading for the same country lane is a prison van rushing injured drug dealer Harvey Gaskill to hospital.

While he has another destination in mind, where only revenge will suffice, Dev is left to make a heartbreaking decision.

He must choose which of his kids he drags from the wreck of his burning car.

A first look picture released by Coronation Street shows Dev helping a lifeless Asha to safety - but what does this mean for Aadi?

While we don't know who survives the horror week, and with tensions already brewing between the siblings and their father, will this be what tears the Alahan's apart?

And Corrie's producer Iain MacLeod was full of praise for Adam Hussain and Tanisha Gorey who play the teenage twins.

"[They] are absolutely brilliant actors. They bounce off each other fantastically well."

He added: "Of all the families on our street, the Alahan's feel the most normal. When I look at them I feel like I get them, I know them, their family dynamics are completely real and actually albeit the events of this week are quite heightened, the story that ensues afterwards is incredibly down-to-earth and relatable.

"Anyone that's got a sibling will get it and I think it's incredibly dramatic by virtue of the fact its incredibly relatable and down-to-earth."

The shock accident for the family comes amid various stunts to be played out in the ITV soap later this month.

Viewers may have already noticed clues dropped about 'Horror Nation Street', Debbie Webster spooktacular event to bring a touch of Halloween fun to the street.

But after all, it is soapland and not everything is as innocent as it seems.

As well as the Alahan's crash, Corey Brent and Abi Franklin are set to come face to face in what Corrie boss Iain McLeod has described as "emotional" and "incredibly intense" scenes.

But he also teased it's "not the end of the story" when it comes to the killer and grieving mother.

And as already mentioned, Harvey is on the loose and he isn't back to play nice, with Iain calling the scenes "box office" material.

Elsewhere, the sinkhole is set to cause drama for an unlikely pair - Jenny and Johnny Connor.

With action above and below ground, filmed over three weeks of day and night shoots, Corrie fans will be left on the edge of their seats by the "cinematic treat" that the soap has in store.

Producer Iain MacLeod said: "We set out to make a week of breathless, brilliant drama - and boy, have our outstanding cast, crew, design team and writers delivered!

"The week is jammed packed with twists and turns, and astonishing visual spectacle. It also has heart, heroism and humour in the most unexpected places. I have to say it again: our team has excelled themselves.

"Making any TV in a pandemic is hard, especially if you’ve been doing it non-stop for over 12 months - so I have to tip my hat to everyone for their tireless efforts in continuing to raise the bar, against all the odds."
