The 2020 film screened at 10 Oscar and BAFTA qualifying festivals around the world and is one of several short films submitted by the Iris Prize LGBT+ Film Festival to feature on the channel.

Former Ackley Bridge actor Sam, 22, stars alongside CBeebies presenter George Webster, who has Down's syndrome and is an ambassador for the charity Mencap the UK charity for people with a learning disability.

And in a soap crossover, the film also stars Hollyoaks actor David Tag who plays Sylver McQueen in the Channel Four soap.

The Manchester-based short film follows the boys as they meet at the swings each week to escape their dysfunctional home lives and slowly fall in love.

"Being given the opportunity to work on this exciting project with Sam Retford and George Webster, who are both extremely talented actors has been incredibly liberating and I feel lucky to be part of such a progressive and inclusive film," said David.

Sam's character is currently at the centre of the drama on Corrie as he plans a Christmas wedding with Rovers Return barmaid Emma Brooker.

Coronation Street viewers have been dubious over Curtis ever since he arrived on the cobbles in May and the truth is about to be exposed.

Fans of the ITV soap had hoped that Emma's luck may finally have changed when she met dashing Curtis.

In the past she had a fling with married David Platt who was on the rebound from his wife Shona and dated the late Seb Franklin who still had feelings for his ex Alina Pop.

S.A.M. to screen on Channel 4 at 1.25am as part of the Iris Prize Best British Shorts compilation and will be available to view on ALL4 for a year.
