Coronation Street aired tough scenes on Wednesday night, as Sally Metcalfe tried to get husband Tim to see the truth about his abusive father Geoff.
Geoff had been coercively controlling, manipulating and isolating his wife Yasmeen Nazir for months, before she fought back in a violent showdown in April.
She almost killed him in self-defence and now remains in prison, as people on the street remain divided over who they believe.
But it was recently confirmed Geoff had also abused his first wife, Philippa, before her apparent death around 1970.
She in fact fled her abusive husband and changed her name to Elaine Jones, with it also revealed she is the real mother of Tim.
Tim came face-to-face with her last week, after believing Geoff's second wife Tess was his mum for all his life.
He didn't even know Elaine existed, or about her horrific ordeal at the hands of his father.
Elaine recently arrived to help bring down Geoff, after learning about Yasmeen's case.
Tim refused to hear her out though, not believing his dad was capable of such behaviour.
Just like he refused to believe Yasmeen, he did the same with his real mum - ignoring her claims of abuse and her true identity.
In the latest episode as she remained missing, Tim took aim at wife Sally who continued to try and make him see what Geoff had done.
He refused, and instead told Sally she was the one who had been brainwashed and was making things up.
Comparing her to a detective in Murder, She Wrote, he claimed she had fallen for Yasmeen's lies and that Elaine was part of a set-up to ruin his father.
As Sally tried to make him see it was him who had been brainwashed, he claimed Elaine was sent by Yasmeen to make up lies about Geoff, or maybe she was someone who had seen the story and wanted to cause trouble.
Viewers were gutted to see Tim speak so badly about his mum, still refusing to believe his father was the abuser.
Towards the end of the episode Tim was still adamant that Elaine was a liar, but news from daughter Faye and an accusation from Sally did hint he was starting to open his eyes.
