Corrie's Audrey to learn devastating truth that grandsons stole £80,000 from her

Coronation Street’s Platt family will be ripped apart when Audrey finds out that her grandchildren have stolen from her.

Audrey is left “devastated” that David and Nick let her believe her late lover Lewis had stolen the £80,000.

A guilty David blurts out the truth when generous Audrey takes the family on holiday.

Actress Sue Nicholls, who plays the heartbroken character, said: “It is not even about the money it is that they allowed her to think that Lewis, the man she loved, had done this to her.”

David, left, and Nick, right, will be revealed as the thieves (ITV)

It also leaves Audrey in conflict with Gail who has protected her sons.

Sue, 75, said: “The family has never been this fractured. I will enjoy getting the scripts.”

She added: “I am very lucky and I am enjoying Audrey in later life.

The Platts will head off on holiday, paid for by Audrey, before the bombshell hits (ITV)

“It is great to see how she has changed as a character.

“In real life I am a different person now in my 70s than I was in my 40s, 50s and 60s , I am finally vaguely perhaps growing up a bit! Audrey is the same.”

The plot, which began in January, will come to a head across five episodes starting on Monday at 9pm on ITV.
