Corrie's Andy Whyment enjoys boys day out with lookalike son and co-star Sam Aston

Coronation Street's Andy Whyment had a fun-filled afternoon with his lookalike son and co-star Sam Aston.

The trio beamed for a pic before they took to the golf course at Worsley Park, just outside Manchester.

Andy's rarely seen son Tom posed alongside his onscreen pal best known for playing Chesney Brown.

The Weatherfield star, 42, took to his social media to share the picture and wrote: "Lovely day for a round of Golf @worsleypark with @tomwhyment and @samaston93."

Fans couldn't believe how much Andy's son had grown since they last saw snaps of him.

"I can't believe how much Tom has shot up, he's a lovely young man," wrote one fan, to which another replied: "I know it’s madness."

Someone else added: "Good photos off your Son Tom and @andywhy36 and @samaston93 Course perfect day for it."

"Wow that is a fantastic, smashing and ace pic of you with Sam Aston and your son Tom at the Worsley Park Golf Course there mate," commented a fourth.

The actor recently returned to the jungle for I'm A Celebrity... South Africa, which sparked concern if he would ditch his Corrie roots.

The 42-year-old has played Kirk Sutherland on the ITV soap for 23 years and would have noticed the trend of people leaving their soap roles around their stint on I'm A Celeb in search for pastures new.

After his I'm A Celeb exit scenes aired, Andy opened up about the hopes for his career in the future and confirmed if he will continue playing Kirk Sutherland for the foreseeable future.

"I’ve seen a lot of people come and go, thinking they’re going to go on to bigger and better things but Corrie for me is my number one, it always has and always will be," Andy told The Sun.

"I grew up watching it as a kid and when I drive up to those barriers in the morning and they lift them up, I think ‘I'm still working on Coronation Street.'

"If I’d told myself growing up I’d be there 23 years, it’s amazing and touch wood many more years to come."

Andy added how he has a "great work life balance" and he "loves the banter" the cast and crew share on the Weatherfield set.

He added that he has "no intentions of leaving" and added: "I’ll stay in Corrie as long as they’ll have me and hopefully that’ll be many more years to come."

Andy first stepped into the I'm A Celebrity jungle in the 2019 series of the show.

Andy and wife Nichola have two children together – Thomas, 14, and Hollie, 12.

The family are thought to live in Cheshire, with the award-winning actor having shared glimpses of their home on his Instagram account in recent years.

But the actor won’t be adding to his family after undergoing a vasectomy.

He said: “There’s no chance of having any more kids as I had the snip a few years ago. We said we wanted two kids and we’ve been really fortunate to have a boy and a girl.”
