Corrie's Alison King addresses Mikey North snog rumours after admitting she had ‘too much to drink' at NTAs

Alison King has admitted that she hit the bottle a little too hard at the National Television Awards last week.

The Coronation Street actress, who plays Carla Connor, was spotted leaving the bash early and she has since admitted she had ‘too much to drink’.

But Alison, 46, has categorically denied kissing her ITV soap colleague Mikey North at the ceremony and has spoken out for the first time since the rumours surfaced.

According to the Daily Star, the actress said: “I would like to take this opportunity to say that, whilst it was obvious to see that regrettably I did have too much to drink at the National TV Awards, and chose to leave the event early, I did not kiss my co star Mikey North as has been reported.”

Married Mikey, who is best known for playing Gary Windass on the cobbles, also hit out at the "ludicrous" rumours, adding that they caused his family a “great deal of distress”.

He told OK! magazine: "I would like to make one thing clear: I did not kiss my co-star Alison King during the recent National Television Awards. It is beyond ludicrous to suggest that I would or that I did.

"The grainy recording shows me simply speaking into her ear at what was a noisy public event. This report has caused me and my family a great deal of distress.

"I have an amazing wife who I adore and, as incredibly supportive as she is, it is unacceptable that she should have to deal with people seeing this kind of baseless gossip on the front page of a newspaper."

Mikey also revealed he had lodged a complaint with the Independent Press Standards Organisation.

Mikey has spoken at length in the past about his love for his wife.

He told Closer magazine in 2015: "Rachael is the best thing that has ever happened to me – and I don't mind telling everybody! She’s changed my life for the better."

Alison and her fella IT consultant David Stuckley announced their engagement in September 2019.

She told OK! magazine: "I think we both went from: 'No, we don't ever need to get married, to, 'Oh, we really want to get married!'"
