Coronation Street star Ali Mardell has revealed she is proud of Simon Gregson and hopes her on-screen dad makes it to the I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here final.
The actress, 28, plays Emma Brooker in the long-running ITV soap and is the daughter of Simon's character Steve McDonald.
Gregson, 47, was a late arrival on the show alongside soap rival Adam Woodyatt. The pair were soon made lords of the castle at the campsite at Gwrych Castle in North Wales.
Ever since, Simon has been a hit with the viewing public, including his colleague.
Ali said: "I’m actually not voting for him for trials but I’m definitely voting for him to stay in there, he’s got to be there till the end.
"But hopefully, I’ll get to see him soon and catch up on all the stories, but not too soon because I want him in the final."
The actress admitted that she was missing working with her co-star, but is proud of him as he is "just being himself".
She added: "His little laugh makes me laugh because it’s just the same as when we’re at work."
Simon first appeared on the cobbles of Weatherfield in 1989 and has often discussed his time on the show with his I'm A Celeb campmates.
The Corrie stalwart said that he had originally planned to race cars or fly planes when he was younger but joined the ITV series around the age of 14. He has been acting in it ever since.
Reflecting on how fame had been challenging, he said: "It was difficult for a while to adjust.
"This isn’t what I planned for myself and I do not like it. I hated it. The fame side of it I hated it. I still don’t (like it)."
Wednesday night's edition of I'm A Celeb saw Simon eat a gruesome dish during a gory food trial alongside Emmerdale's Danny Miller.
The pair were told by hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly that the would win a star in the Santa's Grotty Grotto trial if they chew the pies so hard that the eye juice comes out.
Once the juice oozed out they then had to spit the awful remains into a sherry glass, before downing it all.
However, it wasn't all plain sailing on the show as Ant and Dec made a blunder during the trial.
As part of the first round, Simon and Danny were given two sacks - one with rotten vegetables in and another with fermented eggnog - as they hunted for the stars on offer. The catch was that they could only retrieve the stars using their mouths.
Simon managed to retrieve his star pretty quickly and spat it out on the floor, but he continued to look for the star.
Ant and Dec eventually told him to stop looking after not realising he had found the star.
In total, Simon and Danny managed to win seven of the eight stars available in the challenge.
