Coronation Street star Alexandra Mardell is engaged to her boyfriend Joe Parker.
The actress, who plays Emma Brooker on the ITV soap, announced the happy news on social media on Monday night when she revealed that she was ‘locked down’ after Joe got down on one knee.
The 27-year-old TV star showcased her sparkling square engagement ring in a series of joyous snaps which saw the couple beam following the special moment.
Alongside the snaps, Alexandra penned: “Love locked down!!
“1000000 times yes! You make me so happy, my face hurts! Love you ridiculously. Future Mrs Parker.”
Alexandra’s doting new fiancé also took to Instagram to share the happy news with friends and family.
In a gushing post, he said he was a ‘lucky man’ to be spending the rest of his life with the stunning soap star.
“Went into lockdown with a girlfriend, came out with a fiancée,” he lovingly wrote.
“What a lucky man I am. Can't wait to marry you @alexandramardell I love you.”
The lovebirds first met while they were students, but remained friends until two years after their graduation when they finally made things official.
They took the next step in their relationship in January 2020 when they made the decision to move in together – not knowing that the world was set to plummet into a pandemic just two months later.
Although their living situation started off in unusual circumstances as the pair were holed up together for months on end, it’s obvious that the time spent together has brought them closer, and has done wonders for their romance.
Alexandra recently celebrated her fourth anniversary on Corrie, after joining the legendary cast in 2018.
