Coronation Street viewers are convinced they have figured out who attacked Adam Barlow and left him for dead, but Adam himself has a totally different idea.
He originally said that he believed his attacker was his uncle, Peter Barlow, who had an axe to grind after Adam slept with Peter's girlfriend, Carla Connor.
He revealed the perpetrator smelled of whiskey and pointed the finger at alcoholic Peter, but changed his tune when he discovered Peter is dying from liver failure after a relapse.
Daniel Osbourne, who previously accused Sarah Platt of being the culprit, told him: "He’s ill, he’s in hospital, he’s got internal bleeding because of his drinking.
"They think he’s got liver failure, he made me promise not to tell anyone but if you’re going to tell them you think it was him then it would push him to drink.
"He could die, I mean, he would die."
And so when the police detective arrived to question him, Adam changed his mind and sensationally accused Gary Windass of attacking him instead.
"Let’s cut to the chase shall well?" he said.
"And talk about who tried to kill me. I think it was Gary Windass."
But many viewers have guessed a different assailant - Peter's son Simon Barlow - and some have predicted Adam is trying to protect Simon.

One tweeted: "I honestly don't think Gary tried to kill him either tbh I still think it was Simon # Corrie ".
"Still don’t believe it’s Peter... my money is still on Simon! # Corrie # Adam # Peter # Simon , " added another.
A third wondered: "Daniel knows something. Does he know it was Simon? # Corrie ".
A fourth remarked: "Maybe it wasn't Daniel who did it, but maybe he witnessed Simon do it and wants to protect him? # Corrie ".
A fifth joked: "'You think you know who attacked you?', 'Yep. It was Gary Windass,' - Adam Barlow changes his mind so much about his attacker that I bet he's totally useless at Cluedo. # Corrie ".
