Coronation Street 's Abi Franklin and Roy Cropper are set for a brand new storyline that brings them together in a devastating way.
Abi, played by Sally Carman, and Roy, played by David Neilson, will become an unlikely duo next year in a "social realism storyline".
Corrie boss Iain MacLeod told The Sun : "There’s a really big social realism story that’s going to draw in Roy Cropper and Abi Franklin.
"They’ll find themselves thrown together off the back of their heroics in the community story.
"It’s going to be heart-breaking and serious and hopefully start a lot of important conversations at home."
Ian previously revealed the storyline will also hit Dev's twins Asha and Aadi, and Roy's niece Nina.
It is not yet clear what will happen to the teens and what this has to do with Roy and Abi, but Iain previously explained it would be a "hard-hitting story with massive ramifications".
He said the "social responsibility" storyline would be "incredibly sad and tragic but a really important story".
On Monday's Corrie, viewers were overjoyed as Yasmeen Nazir was found not guilty of attempting to murder abusive husband Geoff Metcalfe.
Geoff was caught out in the trial by CCTV footage of him visiting Elaine Jones in the mental health ward, deliberating obscuring his face, proving he harassed her into withdrawing her testimony.
But after Geoff aggressively confronts Yasmeen outside the court, trying to get her to come home with him, a downhearted Yasmeen tells Imran she believes Geoff will always haunt her and never let her go, before lodging a complaint against him to the police.
Geoff then hurriedly tried to book a one-way trip to Cyprus with his new girlfriend, Christine.
Spoilers have revealed a seething Geoff targets Alya in an arson attack, leading to a rooftop showdown with tragic consequences on Wednesday night.
