Corrie legend Johnny Briggs cut drug-addicted daughter out of his final will

Coronation Street legend Johnny Briggs decided to cut drug-addicted daughter out of his will, it’s been claimed.

The soap star died in February at the age of 85, leaving behind a will to the value of £550,000.

This money was split between five of his six children - daughters Jennifer and Stephanie, and sons Michael, Anthony and Mark.

However, after falling out with Karen Briggs, 55, over her behaviour and heroin addiction struggles, he decided to leave nothing to her.

According to The Sun, the star never recovered his relationship with Karen to the point that he left her behind nothing when he died.

Karen, as well as her daughter Emma Beach, are serial thieves who have been jailed numerous times for a number of offences including shoplifting and stealing bikes.

Johnny reportedly cut ties with Karen after he discovered she had given her daughter class A drugs from the age of 14.

Karen had previously blamed the break-up of her parents for the trigger that kickstarted her addiction struggles.

In 2015, Karen and Emma were banned from every shop in Surrey because of their relentless stealing - which on one occasion including a £10,000 haul of Yankee Candles from a Clinton’s Cards in Walton-On-Thames.

While Emma previously made attempts to get sober and straighten out, Karen continued to have run-ins with the law, landing anti-social behaviour orders for her continued stealing.

Johnny is one of Coronation Street ’s most iconic faces, playing lothario and wheeler-dealer businessman Mike Baldwin from 1976 to 2006.

During his time on the show, Mike became known for his wandering eye, love of Alma (Amanda Barrie) and his turbulent love triangle relationship with Deidre (the late Anne Kirkbride) and Ken Barlow (Bill Roache).

The character eventually died in 2006 after a tragic storyline in which Mike developed Alzheimer’s disease.

His philandering somewhat mirrored his real life, where he was outed for having a series of affairs.

He was married twice - first to Caroline Sinclair from 1961 to 1975, then to Christine Allsopp from 1975 to 2006.

Karen is Johnny’s only daughter from his marriage to Caroline, with son Mark also being born during their relationship.
