Corrie in Tez and Abi twist as fans recognise actor - from Hollywood past to famous wife

Coronation Street welcomed a new character on-screen last night - and he looks set to cause trouble.

Tez is the dad of Seb Franklin, who was tragically killed earlier this year in a hate attack on him and girlfriend Nina Lucas.

Weatherfield has been rocked by the shocking events - no more so than Nina and Seb's mum Abi Franklin.

Viewers have watched as Abi struggled with her son's murder, only to be tormented in court when killer Corey Brent walked away a free man.

After he was given a not-guilty verdict, and Kelly Neelan was sentenced for murder, Abi broke up with fiance Kevin Webster and left the cobbles.

But in Wednesday night's double bill, Kev came one step closer to finding Abi when he stumbled across Seb's dad Tez.

After finally informing the police of his partner's disappearance, Kevin made his way to the Dog & Gun pub in the hope someone will have seen Abi.

The locals in the pub didn't give Kevin a great welcome - nor did they know of Abi's whereabouts.

But when another local entered the pub, Kev knew exactly who he was.

He quizzed Tez and whether he knew where Abi was - before breaking the news that Seb had been murdered.

Kevin comforted Tez as he shed tears over the news, only for a twist to be played out.

As Kev left the pub, viewers saw Tez take a phone call, claiming it was his probation officer.

But it definitely didn't sound like the case.

"Your fella’s been in sniffing about," he said, clearly speaking to Abi. "If he finds out what we’re up to, I'm out."

The call comes after £2,000 was withdrawn from Abi and Kevin's joint bank account - leading to Corrie fans' speculation about their plans.

"Abi and Seb’s dad are plotting to kill Corey I take it," tweeted one.

Another said: "Wonder what abi an tez are planning #Corrie."

"So Abi and her ex Tez has teamed up? They’re gonna go after Corey ain’t they?!" a third commented.

A fourth echoed: "Tez and Abi deffo planning to get revenge on Corey #Corrie."

But away from the storyline drama, fans pointed out the familiarity of the actor playing Tez.

"Abi's ex looks familiar! Anyone recognise him?" a fan asked.

Another said: "Did he used to be in Eastenders or something??"

"Did anyone else recognise Jay's dad from EastEnders in Corrie tonight as Tez? #EastEnders #Corrie," a third added.

A fourth said: "How is Abi’s ex (Seb’s dad) the same person from #Eastenders who played Jay’s dad?! Looks so old and different. #Corrie."

Ex-EastEnders actor Stephen Lord had been cast in the role of Seb's father.

The 49-year-old played Jase Dyer in the BBC One soap from 2007 to 2008, the father of Jay Brown.

But he met a grim end after being murdered by his antagonistic gang leader, Terry Bates

And his also has a famous wife.

Stephen is married to actress and producer Elaine Cassidy, known for playing Abby Mills in CBS programme Harper's Island.
