Corrie first look as Corey Brent left for dead after vile hate crime attack

Teen thug Corey Brent is left for dead in shocking scenes in next week's Coronation Street.

His girlfriend Asha Alahan plans for ensnare him over the savage hate crime attack on Seb Franklin and Nina Lucas and there's horror as he collapses down the stairs.

For so long it seemed like Asha, played by Tanisha Gorey, had been defending and covering for her boyfriend over the gang attack that killed Seb.

But she's actually working on a plan to uncover evidence he was involved in the attack.

However her plot backfires when he wakes up and, while staggering around and disorientated, falls down the stairs.

As Abi, played by Sally Carman, and Nina, played by Mollie Gallagher, arrive at the flat Corey barges past them but loses his balance and falls down the stairs.

As Asha looks down at Corey’s lifeless body the women are left with a decision to make - call an ambulance or leave Corey for dead to pay for Seb's death?

The harrowing attack storyline was inspired by the tragic story of 20-year-old goth Sophie Lancaster who was murdered for the way she dressed in 2007.

Soap star Tanisha admitted the plot has been a real challenge to be involved in, reports the Mirror.

Tanisha said: “It has been amazing to be involved in the storyline.

"My heart really goes out to Sophie Lancaster and her mum and parents and anyone in similar situations.

“I think it's amazing that Coronation Street have actually looked into it, as deep as they have.

"It's something so serious, and it's so common.

"And young people don't realise how common it is just a little throwaway comment is enough, you know, to really hurt someone.

"And it's honestly brilliant, how we've looked at it and how it's been written, directed, shot and cast."

Tanisha, who joined the soap in 2009, added: "I think it is my 12th year this year.

"And obviously, as a child, there's not much for you to do just running upstairs, getting home from school 'hi dad.'

"So, I think it's great that they said 'we do need to see what she can do really'.

"And thankfully they liked what they saw, and obviously then went on to the sexting storyline and now Asha's got a pretty big part in this hate crime storyline, and I just feel so proud of myself because I wasn't sure if I could do it.”

Asked what Asha might do if she was there alone without the other women there, Tanisha said: “There would definitely be the thought of 'I just wanna leave him' because she's thinking, 'you've done all this'.

"But everyone else's thoughts are going before her own, which is why in the end I do genuinely think she would get help for him, because no matter what she would she would do the right thing when it comes to something as serious as well."
