Corrie fans 'work out' Amy Barlow's date's link to Aaron in shocking twist

Coronation Street fans are convinced they've worked out a twist, which will see Amy's new love interest 'linked' to Aaron.

Aaron raped Amy in shocking scenes on the ITV soap earlier this year when she was too drunk to consent. She initially reported it to the police before withdrawing the complaint and desperately trying to move on from it.

However, seeing Aaron date someone new left her struggling as she didn't want the same to happen to Mia. She rushed over to the garage to tell her what she went through and warned her about Aaron.

An angry Mia refused to listen and accused Amy of harassing her. Refusing to accept how unjust it had all been, Amy decided she had no choice but to post about what Aaron did on social media.

Elsewhere, she has seemingly moved on with someone else as she mentioned a guy called Ezra from university. However, some viewers are convinced there could be a link between her new potential boyfriend and Aaron.

"Oh dear. Aaron is on the phone to the guy Amy was texting. Predictable," one suggested, whilst a second shared their thoughts on social media, adding: "This lad texting Amy is going to be one of Aaron's friends ain't he."

Actress Elle has revealed Amy is finding things increasingly "tough" and might never get closure from it.

She reported it to the police at first before withdrawing her complaint (ITV)

Speaking to Metro, she said: "It’s a tough one. It’s hard to say whether or not closure is entirely possible for someone who’s gone through this, because this is something that she’s always going to live with.

"Even if she does come to terms with it at some point, it doesn’t mean that she’ll ever be fully over it because it’s traumatic, and she has to learn how to live with it and how to deal with it herself and become a new person on the other side of it. It’s difficult to say."

However, Amy will get her "fire back" and her confidence will grow over time.

She added of what was to come for her character on the soap: "We’re going to see Amy gain a lot more confidence over the subject. I feel like she will take control a bit more. We’ll see a bit more of Amy’s fire coming back."
