Corrie fans 'uncomfortable' over dark sex assault twist as Daisy makes move on Ryan

Coronation Street viewers fear Ryan Connor will be the victim of a sexual assault by predator Daisy Midgeley in a horrifying new storyline.

Friday's episode left viewers uncomfortable, as she managed to convince him to stay in with her to try out some new cocktails - only to ply him with strong booze.

It is not yet clear if the characters do actually sleep together, or whether Daisy is lying to split up him and girlfriend Alya Nazir.

But it's clearly her intention, with her groping him in the scenes while he was in a severely drunken state.

It certainly appeared as though Ryan was in no state of mind to give consent, after he could barely string a sentence together and couldn't remember moments from the night.

Corrie seemed to confirm the scenes could be heading that way with a statement on their Twitter, which read: "If you've been affected by tonight's episode, please visit: https://northlink.itv.com/CorrieAdvice for advice and support."

With actor Ryan Prescott revealing he suffers a "blackout", he has no recollection of the events when he wakes up in Daisy's bed in Monday's episode.

Now, fans are predicting Daisy may have sexually assaulted Ryan after deliberately getting him drunk before making a move on him.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: "Thank you for recognising the issue! Female predators & ab!sers are rarely talked about but it does happen! What daisy did was sexual assault."

Another agreed: "Daisy is a predator you can tell she planned this from the start plying ryan with alcohol so he couldn’t even think straight. he didn’t cheat on alya? Daisy sexually assaulted him when he was too drunk to even consent."

A third added: "Why are people dismissing what just happened? Getting someone intoxicated to have sex with them is not a joke."

This was backed by another viewer who said: "If Ryan was doing this to Daisy, the amount of s**t his character would be getting is unreal but because it’s Daisy doing it to him, it’s acceptable? Nah, maybe. Double standards. It isn’t acceptable either way & well done to #corrie for highlighting an important subject so well."

A fifth fan tweeted: "I am so so uncomfortable watching the Daisy and Ryan scenes I hate it here."

Corrie's Ryan will beg Daisy to stay quiet (ITV)

Daisy had manipulated Ryan into staying with her, before turning the volume down on his phone so girlfriend Alya could not make contact.

She even lied to Alya that he was out with mates when she showed up looking for him, while he was actually drunk and in the back of the pub the entire time.

After giving him cocktail after cocktail, she encouraged him to ditch Alya and be with her before placing her hand on his leg and groping him.

The episode ended as a drunk Ryan stared at her uncomfortably, while it's not clear what happens next.

On Monday, he wakes up hungover in her bed and fears he has cheated on Alya, leading to him begging Daisy to stay quiet.

But she wastes no time in telling Alya that he was with her the night before - but will anyone realise the truth?

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
