Corrie's Curtis Delamere is finally about to reveal the secret he's been hiding since his arrival on the soap - and who the mysterious woman is who he has been spotted with.

For the character, who appeared alongside Curtis on Monday night's Coronation Street, is played by actress Lucy Dixon, who has had high profile roles in both Hollyoaks and Waterloo Road.

Corrie viewers have been kept guessing for months about what secret Curtis, played by Ackley Bridge star Sam Retford, had been hiding since he arrived on the cobbles and won the heart of hairdresser Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell).

He was spotted with the red-haired young woman once before on Corrie last month - and on Monday night's episode the character was once again with Curtis in the Bistro - leading to the suspicions of Emma's dad Steve that he is cheating behind her back.

The role is played Hyde-raised actress Lucy, who first shot to TV fame playing another Danielle - schoolgirl Danielle Harker in BBC drama Waterloo Road between 2007-2010 when she was aged 18.

She went on to play the role of impulsive schoolgirl Tilly Evans in Hollyoaks from 2011-2014.

Viewers finally got to discover Curtis' secret is linked to a devastating health battle thanks to Emma's dad Steve McDonald playing detective on Monday night's Corrie.

Steve went to look for Curtis in the Bistro, and when he spied him with the young "dolly bird" as he called her, assumed the worst.

Steve demanded to know what’s going on and assumed Curtis is cheating on Emma so gave him a mouthful - seen in the first instalment of the soap.

In Monday's second episode, Curtis tried to pretend he WAS cheating on Emma - before finally revealing the truth to Steve that he suffers from a terminal illness - and that Danielle is from a support group.

He revealed that he could "drop dead" at any moment due to the heart condition that has left doctors baffled.

There are set to be emotional scenes ahead on the show with spoilers suggesting Emma WILL find out in future episodes, but will their love be able to survive the health bombshell?

Coronation Street is on ITV Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
