Corrie fans spot Gail blunder in Sam kidnapping saga

Corrie fans spotted a script blunder on Friday night's show involving soap legend Gail Platt.

The residents of Coronation Street were left reeling after adorable 10-year-old Sam Blakeman was snatched from the cobbles.

Unbeknownst to them, he had been tricked into the back of a white van and kidnapped by a henchman of drugs lord Harvey in a sick plot engineered by dastardly Sharon.

But as manipulative Sharon aimed to use the worrying situation to get information out of Gail Platt, fans spotted a bit of a blunder.

Sharon, played by actress Tracie Bennett, was invited into the Platt household as she discussed Sam's disappearance with Gail, played by Helen Worth.

A distraught Gail said: "I can't bear to think of him out there on his own... in the dark."

But, as viewers were quick to point out, it was quite clearly still daytime in Weatherfield as seen from the light pouring through the windows of the Platt household.

One fan said: "In the dark? It looks light outside to me Gail".

Gail further infuriated fans of the show when the character then spilled the beans on her son Nick's whereabouts to the conniving Sharon.

"Gail stop talking!" Said one fan, while another added: "After all this time how can Gail be so dense about people."

Little did Gail know that poor little Sam really WAS in the dark - trapped inside the back of the white van with only his little torch to give him light.

In heartbreaking scenes at the end of Friday night's hour-long special, Sam, played by actor Jude Riordan, was seen singing to himself to stay calm after he was tricked into the van by the lure of a nice big telescope.

He shakily sang lyrics from Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush classic Don't Give Up, singing: "Don't give up, 'Cause you have friends; Don't give up, You're not beaten yet."

Soap fans are praying that the youngster fends off the villains and escapes unscathed back to Coronation Street.

And many believe the brainy lad might even be the hero to unmask the misdoings of Harvey, Sharon and the gang in scenes ahead.
