Suddenly, Liam started gasping for air.
But soap watchers were uncomfortable with the amount of time it took for his pal Jack to raise the alarm to Maria as she argued with Sally nearby.

"Why is Jack just standing there?" asked one amazed fan.
"Hello Jack? What took you so long to get Maria’s attention," asked another.
"Jack took his time getting Maria over," another pointed out.
"The kid is dying there and no-one is taking a blind bit of notice," another viewer tweeted.
Then, as an ambulance arrived for Liam, viewers were shouting as it was unable to turn onto the street due to double-parked cars.

Maria was beside herself as her son fought for breath while the paramedic beeped their horn.
And Corrie viewers had serious concerns.
"PICK HIM UP AND TAKE HIM TO THE AMBULANCE!!" one viewer yelled.
"The ambulance is literally down the road, surely it would be quicker for them to carry Liam there?" asked another.
"Surely one of those paramedics can get out and go see to Liam while they're waiting for the car to get moved," another viewer pointed out.

"Like you wouldn't pick the child up and take him to the ambulance," said a fourth fan.
"Paramedics get out the ambulance once they can see the patient especially if it's someone gasping for breath" commented another.
"Sorry but one of the ambulance crew would have got out!!!" another exclaimed.
"What paramedic wouldn't just jump out?" asked another Corrie fan.
"Jump ship and run to Liam, paramedics," tweeted another.
"Do the paramedics no have legs?" wondered another sarcastically.
"Surely the paramedic (only seen one) could get out and run to Liam instead of sitting in his ambulance beeping his horn?"
But another praised the scene: "Poor Liam! fantastic acting from the actor who plays him."
At the hospital Liam, played by Charlie Wrenshall, was diagnosed with asthma and Maria was shocked to learn from the doctor that air pollution caused by traffic fumes is a common cause of the condition.
Liam is upset to learn he has to use inhalers and, deciding that the Underworld factory’s van is responsible for a large share of local air pollution, Maria insists Sarah Barlow take it off the road.
