Corrie fans shocked as ITV soap reveals behind-the-scenes secret from Gary grave scenes

Coronation Street fans have been left shocked by a huge secret from behind-the-scenes of Gary Windass' dramatic grave scenes.

During last night's episode, Gary ( Mikey North ) was kidnapped by evil Kieron, who Kelly Neelan ( Millie Gibson ) had recruited to get Gary back for murdering her father Rick Neelan. Gary was driven to the forest where he buried Rick's body and ordered to dig his own grave where they had planned to kill him and see to the end for good.

However, fans of the ITV soap have been left stunned by a revelation on Twitter about the filming of the dramatic scenes. One even quipped they had been "lied to" as they reacted to the shock filming secret.

A post shared on the official Coronation Street Twitter revealed that Gary's dramatic scenes, which looked like they were filmed on a dark and cold winter's night were actually filmed in the middle of the day and in the very hot weather the UK experienced this year.

Earlier this year, temperatures went into the high 30 degrees centigrade and early 40s, and fans were stunned to find out that is when these dark scenes were filmed, rather than at night time like it appeared to be.

Alongside the photos, one surprised fan wrote: "Nah I’ve been lied to. I’m never trusting anything on tv again."

Another rumbled: "I thought the Coronation Street episode which was on tonight was film during the summer heatwave because the sun was very bright," as a third shared: "While I enjoyed the episode, a slightly lighter blue filter would have done wonders so, you know, we could have made out what what we were looking at."

A fourth wrote: "This worked brilliantly, but is there a reason why Corrie don’t seem to ever do outdoor night time shooting?" One fan then suggested: "I think it's due to when it was shot, if they wanted proper night scenes, they'd have had to wait for 11ish at night."

It comes after actor Mikey teased this Gary and Kelly plot was going "full circle", amid reports one of them could die in the gun shooting horror as Kieron turns on both of them.

He said: "I think it was inevitable that this was the way it would end. I'm just really happy that he sort of comes full circle and we were ending up where we began. It was always gonna happen, it was just a case of when. I couldn't be more happy with with how it's turned out. This block of episodes has been the best block that I've ever been involved with in 15 years here."

*Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
