Corrie fans predict Line of Duty crossover as Craig Tinker dubbed a 'bent copper'

Coronation Street fans have joked of a possible Line of Duty crossover after Craig Tinker dubbed himself a “bent copper” in scenes on Monday night.

Craig is now in cahoots with girlfriend Faye Windass after she confessed her involvement in a hit and run.

The man who Faye knocked over, Ted, died after the accident and she and Emma Brooker have kept it a secret ever since.

PC Tinker agreed to keep Faye’s secret hidden after the truth about Ted’s death was revealed - after he had been digging into the death.

Wanting to protect Faye and stop her going back to prison, Craig told the girls he would pretend the confession never happened.

Monday’s episode saw Craig return from the police station in a miserable mood after he had to lie to his superiors about the case, telling Faye he was now a corrupt police officer.

Craig was upset, aware that keeping the secret goes against everything he believes in.

As Craig woefully opened up to Faye and Emma, fans took to Twitter to theorise about a possible crossover of the soap with hit BBC police drama Line of Duty, which sees the AC-12 team investigate police corruption.

One viewer wrote: “Line of Duty and Corrie crossover soon with Corrupt Craig?! #corrie”

Another tweeted: “Craig talking about being a ‘corrupt officer’ like he’s about to be the focus of the next season of Line of Duty,” alongside a laughing crying emoji.

A third wrote: “Look out Tinker, Hastings will be after you !! #Corrie” while another said: “Craig, prepare to be interviewed by AC12!!! #Corrie”.

Another Corrie fan joked: “Corrupt cop Craig has gotten #Corrie mixed up with Line Of Duty”

This comes after viewers were taken aback by his decision not to say anything to the force about Faye’s confession.

One wrote: “Craig’s gonna keep a secret, and in time will be kicked off the force”

Meanwhile, ITV has announced a major shake up to the Coronation Street schedule this week, which will likely confuse and disappoint regular viewers of the soap opera.

The changes are being made because ITV are set to continue covering the the 2022 Emirates FA Cup.

Coronation Street generally airs two half-an-hour episodes at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays and one episode on Fridays.

But the major shake up will leave the schedule looking different this week due to the football coverage ITV will be providing for footie fans.

The general episode on Friday will booted off air on Friday, February 4 – meaning fans won't be able to catch up with the latest gossip from Weatherfield.

To make up for the Friday night absence, ITV have planned to air an hour-long episode on Tuesday and two half--an-hour episodes on Wednesday.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm and 8:30pm on ITV.
